Interactive College of Technology, a local accredited 2-year degree granting institution, has an immediate opening for a Student Advisor in our English as a Second Language Department located at the Southwest Houston campus.
Primary responsibilities include seeing students through the educational process from new student orientation through graduation, being accountable for student outcomes including graduation and withdrawal rates, and helping students overcome obstacles faced while completing their education. This position is ideal for individuals who want to work in academia but have a sales background. We are seeking individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of students studying the English language.
An academic advisor serves as a partner with the student that provides timely and accurate information to the student concerning academic standing, college policies and procedures and shares in the responsibility for academic success. The advisor provides a support system and is the student liaison with faculty and staff and works with the student to complete pre-registration for upcoming semesters and preparation for graduation. The advisor also supports the student through advising with face-to-face interaction and helping students find resources when facing obstacles that would prevent them from graduation.
College experience and previous work experience with international students are a plus. This is a part time position with both day and evening shifts available. Position is part time with the possibility for full time. Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
