3) Description of Activities and Responsibilities: As a licensed agent, you will be responsible for scheduling appointments, meeting with clients, analyzing clients’ information, making product recommendations and providing ongoing service. Agents work in the personal and business markets. They can help clients meet their insurance, estate, retirement and benefit needs through the insurance and financial products they offer.

  • Develop and implement agent business and marketing plans
  • Prospect for potential clients
  • Discuss financial concerns and needs of individuals
  • Present potential solutions using our quality suite of products and services
  • Develop your professional skills and knowledge

5) Training: We’re serious about training: Our NYLIC University’s comprehensive Agent training curriculum form the backbone of our training. Training provided at the local office is on-going throughout the lifetime of the agent career.

New agent development (Years 1-3).

  • Career Orientation - Training actually begins before an Agent signs his/her agent contract. Career Orientation offers an overview of the career and helps prospective Agents know what to expect from Day One
  • Fundamental Career School - Provides the technical and administrative knowledge Agents need to succeed
  • Basic Career School - Reinforces Fundamental Career School and expands Agents’ knowledge
  • Intermediate Career Course - Broadens Agents’ knowledge of product and services
  • Career Development Conference - A highly interactive five-day course, held at NYLIC University’s campus in Dallas, TX
  • The Associates Program - Introduces the agent to more advanced areas of Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, and working with Small Business Owners.

In addition, during their first three years, new Agents are encouraged to begin studying for the exams to becoming a registered representative, and Securities licensing training will be provided.

Professional designations.

We encourage Agents to pursue industry professional designations and offer tuition reimbursement for courses that will help Agents attain the following designations:

  • Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®)
  • Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®)
  • Masters of Science in Financial Services (MSFS)
  • Chartered Leadership Fellow® (CLF®)
