Job Description

Job Purpose/Summary

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing a company-wide compliance program by: researching and keeping up with all applicable regulations and standards; developing and implementing content for compliance education and training; conducting and/or overseeing compliance audits and investigations; conducting training and developing policies and procedures related to medical billing operations; and serving as the in-house expert on medical billing compliance issues. The position will also be a compliance resource in areas such as human resources, along with client and vendor contracting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Managing regulatory matters and compliance issue;

  • Maintaining a professional and well-governed environment and achieving compliance with regulations by developing and maintaining policies and procedures supporting a culture of integrity, compliance and excellence;

  • Promoting awareness and a culture of responsibility through training and regular communication with both internal staff and clients;

  • Conducting risk assessments to identify regulatory, operational and reputational risk across the Company’s activities;

  • Leading the Company's compliance team by developing, implementing, maintaining and overseeing a compliance monitoring program to confirm our operations team is complying with regulatory requirements and adhering to Company risk management and compliance related policies as it relates to medical billing;

  • Responds to incidents of suspected compliance violations by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures;

  • Corresponds with outside regulatory agencies as needed;

  • Serving as a resource for compliance questions and working collaboratively with other internal functions and with clients.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of related experience at a professional level achieving a senior compliance role, preferably in the medical insurance or healthcare industries

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of applicable regulations.

  • Strong writing and communication skills.

  • Demonstrable and proven leadership skills.

  • Experience in regulated industry preferred.

  • Articulate and poised in face-to-face meetings and presentations with all levels of the organization

  • Strong organizational and time management skills required. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and quickly adapt to changing priorities

  • Must be highly attentive to detail

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment
